The Year of the Nurse and the Midwife 2020. WHO’s landmark announcement that 2020 will be the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife provides an important opportunity to advocate to strengthen midwives and the midwifery profession. For the first time, countries across the world will unite in recognition of the essential role that midwives play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and Universal Health Coverage.
There is a growing momentum for midwives globally and we see 2020 as the first year of a future where every childbearing woman has acces to a midwife’s care for herself and her newborn.

Kickoff Barnmorskans år 2020
Med fokus på barnmorskan – smygstartade Svenska Barnmorskeförbundet WHO:s kampanj the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife 2020 – Barnmorskans år 2020.
Med anledning av att FN:s befolkningsfond UNFPA högsta chef Dr Natalia Kanem besökte Sverige den 11 december 2019 smygstartade Svenska Barnmorskeförbundet och dess internationella råd Barnmorskans år 2020 i Sverige.
